PRESIDENT/CAPTAIN'S REPORT
We're on a roll - two comps in a row. Things
didn't look too good early but the rain held off & the glassy
conditions & small waves made it an enjoyable morning.

Judging - Alan , Phil , and yes it's Pete Farell
back!
Wazza crunching the numbers in the background.
Good to see Pete Farrell grace us with his presence.
You've still got it big fella. A big welcome to the club to Col
Woodbury. Shows some talent in the surf too. Congratulations to
Mick Calnan who won the day with some fine surfing - I was robbed.
We've had a great response to our next social outing at the Mi
Thai in Lennox Head on Friday 14th Nov. at 7.00pm. I have booked
for 32 so should be a great night.
By the time you read this I will be in Agnes
Waters catching some waves with Pete & Marg Bryant. Hope we
have something to brag about when we get back. In the meantime
get out there & get into it. Wazza.
SOCIAL CALENDAR
Our next social outing is the Mai Thai restaurant
in Lennox Head on Friday November 14th at 6:30PM. This night is
always a great night with alfresco dining on the sidewalk a little
unique and quite comfortable on a warm evening. For booking purposes
we will need to know attendance numbers prior to the evening and
Wazza has asked for numbers at the November comp round. Please
email the secretary
if you plan to attend. Hope to see you all there!
See the Club
Calendar page for full details of all our planned social activities.

JIM DEVLIN MEMORIAL INTER-CLUB CHALLENGE
This year the Six Ways Interclub Challenge was
renamed the Jim Devlin Memorial Interclub Challenge in memory
of Jim Devlin who died while surfing in last year's event. It
was a beautiful sunny day with light winds and fun half to one
metre rights breaking close to shore.

The six teams competing were Byron Bay, Burleigh,
Lennnox, Ballina, Evans Head, and Second Wind - Federal.

Our club entered a full team of 15 riders with
each rider competing in a 20 minute heat for the best two waves.
After 15 heats we had tied with Lennox Longboarders for 5th place.
The final Tag Team Event sorted the men from the boys with Ballina
edging out Lennox to finish ahead at the end on the day. A great
result given the ongoing rivalry between the two local clubs.
It was great to see such a high level of interest from our club.
Thanks go to all members who competed. See the Photo
Gallery for all the pictures of the day...
Our next club round is on Sunday 7th December.

TRAVEL REPORT
This month's contribution come from Monica & Bob Wilcox from
Brisbane. (Ed - 2007 was the worst Xmas Holiday period in many
years.)
After seeing Brian’s empty nest adventure I figured I’d
share our plans. Some of you know us, some will go “who?”
we’re the brissos who turned up at the AGM & huddle
against the windswept southerly with the diehards or the other
Wilcox-s. Our empty nest plans include a camper trailer bought
in November last year & being able to toddle off when Bob
is home from work. Plus, hopefully the first Sunday of the month
@ Lennox would co-incide. We started with our annual Xmas New
Year pilgrimage to Flatrock. Our grand plans went awry immediately……..

Get the picture……….
This was coffee @ Bungalow.
A fleeting moment of dry tranquility and optimism things could
be improving.

By January meet………we had surrendered and gone
home.
Tried again a few days later and this time the sun came out but………
beach conditions weren’t optimal.

We tried to make the February meet. While you locals heard the
pounding of the rain & didn’t get out of bed…….
we were calculating how many minutes/seconds we had to get to
the loo & back before the next downpour! This was taken about
9.30am! It had eventually stopped raining & we couldn’t
see any cars up the car park.
In July we stayed in Lennox & enjoyed the
luxury of a solid roof, heating and an inside loo.

We had the best intentions of going to the July
meet but things changed quickly. So that morning……….we
poked our heads out but decided not to get out of bed either.
Nature’s cathedral….. plus Gromfest training.
Please email the secretary
if you have an interesting story.
CLUB T-SHIRTS
At the November comp members discussed the issue
of T-shirts and agreed to purchase sky-blue shirts with a single
colour logo. Wazza collected a list of sizes and plans to order
the T-shirts ASAP. Cost is approximately $20.
